Tonight we’re going to party like it's 1599...
There's a lot of stuff to love about Cal
Shakes: the natural vistas, the edgy reimaginings of classic theater, the
sculptures, the freedom to snack and sip throughout the production. But what if
you got there early? And what if there were a party waiting for you? For Twelfth Night, we'll be throwing a party
for our LGBT friends, free with your ticket to the show. Music, hors d'oeuvres,
and beverages are all included. And for those 30 or younger, tickets are just
$20.
Oh, and the play: In the coastal kingdom of Illyria, young Viola has lost her twin
brother to a storm at sea; what ensues is Shakespeare’s most profound
romantic comedy, in which love propels everyone and leads to utter joy,
deepest sorrow, and, at times, madness. Director Mark Rucker (Richard III, Romeo and Juliet) returns to direct.
One of the Bay Area's leading professional theaters, California Shakespeare Theater produces a summer season of boldly imagined, deeply entertaining productions of Shakespeare and other classic works; in-depth, far reaching education programs for learners of all ages and circumstances; and New Works/New Communities, a program bringing disparate communities together around the creation of a new American plays inspired by the classics. California Shakespeare Theater is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization.
